Die Meinungen über den Mimiq sind total gespalten. Die einen können nix damit anfangen, die anderen sind begeistert. In meinen Augen ist wichtig, wie man an die Sache rangeht: In meiner Band bin ich (meist) der einzige Gitarrist. Im Studio 'double' ich gerne bestimmte Spuren (2x aufnehmen + hard pannen). Das gibt sehr viel Durchsetzungkraft und räumliches Gefühl, das ich bisher live vermisste.
Genau so setze ich das Teil auch ein. Es muss unbedingt stereo laufen, damit dieser Doubling-Eindruck entsteht. Mono klingt es eher so zwischen 'schlechtem Chorus' und 'verstimmter Gitarre mit Timingschwierigkeiten' (darum ist die Mini-Version mit nur Mono-Ausführung auch nix). Zweitens funktioniert das bei Sounds, die bereits Chorus und/oder Modulation Delay/Reverb haben, ganz einfach nicht. Ich habe das Teil in die beiden Inserts eines Boss GT1000 reingehängt (stereo-link) und verwende es ganz gezielt in angezerrten/verzerrten Ryhtm-Sound, die dicker klingen sollen. Z.B. bei cleanen Sound mit Compressor und Mod-Delay bleibt es ausgegeschaltet (kann man ja vom GT1000 aus steuern). 

Viel &quot;Falschmach&quot;-potential, aber wenn, dann dann

Von diesem Pedal gibt es auch eine günstigere Version, die unter Anderem nur Mono-Betrieb ermöglicht. Vorweg: die günstigere Version ist rausgeschmissenes Geld, und auch diese Version hier kommt nur dann zur Wirkung, wenn man Stereo raus geht und nach Möglichkeit danach in zwei verschiedene Amps. Das klingt jetzt erst mal komplizierter, als es tatsächlich ist - vor allem, wenn man das Pedal wie ich im Studio nutzt. Ich habe hier vier Varianten, mit denen ich arbeite:

1. Gitarre direkt in den Doubler, von dort in Inputs 1 und 2 des Audio-Interface. In der DAW dann auf eine Stereospur und mit Amplitube 5 als Amp-Simulation.

2. Gitarre direkt in den Doubler, von dort ebenfalls in Inputs 1 und 2 des Audio-Interface. Dann aber auf ZWEI Mono-Spuren, und für jede einen eigenen Amplitube 5 Amp mit eigenen Effekten. Die Mono-Spuren hart links/rechts.

3. Gitarre direkt in den Doubler, von dort linker Kanal ---&gt; Blackstar Dual Drive mit Cab Sim --&gt; Input 1 Audio-Interface // rechter Kanal --&gt; Input 2 Audio-Interface --&gt; Amplitube 5 und dann zwei Mono-Spuren in der DAW hart links/rechts

4. Gitarre direkt in den Blackstar Dual Drive mit Cab Sim --&gt; Doubler --&gt; linker Kanal ---&gt; Input 1 Audio-Interface / rechter Kanal ---&gt; Input 2 Audio-Interface und dann entweder auf eine Stereospur oder zwei Monospuren (die dann immer hart links/rechts)

Die verschiedenen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten erlauben es, den Effekt für so ziemlich jede Anwendung passend einzurichten - von gedoppelten 70's Gitarrenriffs (mit Harmonizer auf einer der beiden Spuren) bis hin zu brachial fetten Metal-Brettern geht wirklich alles. 

Kann das Pedal ein 'echtes' Doppeln ersetzen? Jein. Das kommt auf den Gitarristen an - und auf die Zeit, die man investieren kann oder will. Ich habe in vielen Jahren viele Methoden ausprobiert und wirklich nichts kam dem Doubler auch nur ansatzweise nahe. Schaltet man den Effekt während des Spielens aus, so scheint der ganze Sound wie ein Kartenhaus in sich zusammenzufallen. Ganz grosses Kino, übrigens auch mit Akustikgitarren!

In Mono ist das Pedal (und der kleine Bruder) meiner Meinung nach nicht zu gebrauchen weil der Sound einfach nur undifferenziert wird.

Achtung! Dieses Pedal ist nur im Stereo-Setup zu gebrauchen. Im Mono-Betrieb klingt es fürchterlich.

Tc Electronic Mimiq Doubler

Avec la guitare acoustique, un résultat incroyable. On ne peut plus s'en passer.
À utiliser absolument en stéréo cependant. En mono, le résultat est beaucoup plus mitigé.

Das Mimic Doubler Pedal hält was es verspricht. Ich betreib es in einem Stereo-Setup. Sobald es aktiviert wird, geht die Sonne auf! Der Sound wird richtig breit. Der Effekt funktoniert am besten mit Mid- bis Ultra-Gain Sounds.
