Monchhichi

The Monchhichi dolls are a line of stuffed monkey dolls, first created in 1974 by the Mr. Sekiguchi, a Japanese toymaker. Sekiguchi created these characters as twins, a girl and a boy, in order to inspire respect and love in the young children and adults. The Monchhichi name is derived from the words "Mon" which translates to "Mine" in French, and "Chichi" which closely resembles the sound a child's pacifier would produce. Clever, as the toys are also designed to suck their thumbs. The toys quickly became very popular in Japan and soon after in Europe and the US, and now are ones of the most beloved toys around the world!
