Based on the legendary CK12 microphone capsule, the Viennese audio engineers designed their own, further developed CKR12 capsule by tracking down various originals of the famous vintage capsule from around the world and meticulously testing, measuring, and evaluating them according to their best properties. They have developing an experience that is much more than just a "copy". As a special feature, the lovingly hand-made microphone has a second output, which enables producers, engineers, musicians and future-oriented artists to record the rear-facing capsule independently of the front-facing capsule. If both capsules are recorded on a stereo or dual mono track in the DAW, the free and open source PolarDesigner plug-in (MAC / PC: VST, AU & AAX) enables unparalleled control and adjustment of the directional characteristic between 1 and 5 ribbons with selectable transition points. In order to flexibly configure the OC818 in complex live situations or during the sound check in real time, the optional OCR8 Bluetooth dongle can be attached to the rear of the housing. The behavior of both capsules, as well as the highpass filter and pad switch can then be accessed via the PolarPilot app for Android and iOS. This unique tool enables an unprecedented number of 255 discrete directional characteristics between all eight all cardioid versions up to omnidirectional.
