Il pedale è ispirato al Tube Driver ed è equipaggiato con una vera valvola 12AX7. Il prezzo e il suono sono interessanti però enfatizza gli acuti e manca un controllo del tono che sarebbe stato senz'altro utile.

TC Electronic Tube Pilot Overdrive

Ich war überrascht zu hören, dass diese Stomp-Box eine Art zusätzlicher Röhrenvorstufe für einen Amp bieten soll, und habe es deshalb gekauft.  Ein erster Test zu Hause über einen Egnater (mit 2 6V6 Endsutfe) verlief hoffnungsvoll.
Zum Clean-Signal des amp liess sich damit eine subtil einstellbarer Tube-Overdrive generieren, der deutlich besser regelbar war, als der verstärker-eigene Overdrive channel.
Im Probelokal über einen Vivrolux (2 x 6L6GC) klang das Teil jedoch schon in der minimalen Drive-Position der Stomp Box harsch und unangenehm. Auch andere Gitarren und Einstellunen konnten den agressiven Höhenboost nicht kaschieren.
Fazit: Für eine Recording Session mit dem Egnater werde ich es wohl einsetzen können, in Live mit dem Vibrolux jedoch nicht.
Ist ev. bei amps mit 6L6 Endstufen (mit GZ34 Rectifier) der Klang zu brutal?  Möglicherweise wird die Tube-Verzerrung des Tube-Pilot  je nachdem, wie 'hot' die Vorstufen und/oder die Endstufen des benutzten amps sind, nicht sinnvoll.

Toller röhrenartiger Klang.
Brauche ihn mit der Gitarre und dem Bass.
Beides funktioniert bestens.
