The D4 is suitable for recording kick drums, floor toms, djembes, bass guitar combos, pianos or even saxophones. The D4 has a novel capsule design that is also able to accurately reproduce frequencies below 100 Hz. In fact, the D4 is able to record frequencies up to 63 Hz. But it should not be forgotten that this microphone is a full-range microphone that is suitable for a variety of different applications. If the D4 is used to record the kick drum, it should be placed in the middle of the sound opening of the front head. Here the D4 offers a warm, fat sound with a healthy dose of punch.
