Willow Tree Courageous Joy

Willow Tree is an intimate line of figurative sculptures representing sentiments of love, closeness, healing, courage, hope...all the emotions we encounter in life. Susan Lordi wants to celebrate ones heritage with this piece showing this through the traditional African woven Kente cloth and markings on the dress. As Susan Lordi states ''She's expressing who she is and celebrating the colour of her skin. Her skin shines through and contrasts with the lively patterns. A physical representation of what I hope she feels within. With this figure, I’m celebrating pride in one’s heritage – how knowing the past gives confidence in the present, and a sense of who we are."
