I know, all the purists are down on Behringer pedals. They point out that they're basically clones of various Boss and EHX pedals. They may be right. But for the money - CHF22 when I bought this multi-function thing - you cannot do better. It's worth it alone for the tremolo, which sounds really good. The other effects are all accessible one at a time by turning a rotary knob. The phaser doesn't sound great, but the flanger and chorus are okay, as is the delay. The pitch shift effect is surprisingly playable. And as the for the build quality, yes it's plastic and lacks the tank-like feeling of Boss pedals. Although a plastic body it should stand up to normal amounts of punishment.
If you're new to pedals and still don't know what type of effect you need for your sounds, then this Behringer is your safest bet! For a small price I got a delay, phaser, flanger, tremolo, chorus and a pitch shifter, all sound good (especially the freq. shifter), plus, it works on batteries (Jamming in park ;)) and it has two inputs and two outputs (for nerds out there ;)). The quality of the build is not great (it's made of plastic, but this doesn't affect the sound at all, and for the price, I guess it's a great deal), also, it doesn't come with a cable, but I found one easily.
